Introducing coNea
The next-generation synthetic textile material from OceanSafe.
coNea is a groundbreaking biosynthetic material designed to replace cotton and other conventional materials common in textile industry.
coNea does not have cellulosic content and is produced in chip form. This chip is processed through extrusion and melt-spinning, yielding high-performance staple fibers and filament yarns.
- coNea is made from 100% biobased feedstock obtained partially through fermentation and waste residues
- Its core is a proprietary new biopolymer
- It is designed for biodegradation without the use of additive technology
- No hazardous substances
Usage and Performance
coNea closely resembles the characteristics of cotton.
It is characterized by its extremely soft hand feel. Further, thanks to its hydrophilic nature, it absorbs moisture, thereby enhancing the comfort and breathability.
It will be available as both fibers and filaments and can be blended with other natural or man-made materials.
Industrially Scalable
coNea is highly industrially scalable, which allows for large-scale production to meet rising market demands. Additionally, it is a drop-in technology, meaning that it can be manufactured and processed on any existing machinery along the textile value chain.
Development Status
Currently, coNea it is in its pilot phase.
We are committed to providing regular updates on the development and availability of coNea. Stay tuned.
