This is OceanSafe
OceanSafe AG is a Swiss material science company committed to put the principles of the circular economy to practice.
We develop synthetic textile alternatives to replace conventional textile materials. Our proprietary materials are designed for biodegradation and recyclability. They are safe for consumers and do not contain harmful substances like toxicants or heavy metals.
As such, our technology addresses the textile industry’s most pressing environmental problems.
History
The OceanSafe journey started in 2019, when today’s CEO Manuel Schweizer laid the foundation of the startup company. Manuel had previously spent over 10 years on R&D on circular interior textiles and collected three decades of experience in the textile industry.
He founded the parent company in Bern, Switzerland, and the German subsidiary in Krefeld followed suit shortly thereafter.
His objective:
To convert his textile expertise, inventions and know-how into a market-ready technology for a wide range of textile applications.
Implementing Circularity in the Textile Industry
OceanSafe technology addresses various environmental problems of the textile industry. We help our customers - textile brands and retailers - develop circular textiles. We follow the Cradle to Cradle product design philosophy and aim to implement and manifest these ideas throughout the textile industry.
Today, OceanSafe operates a licensing business model. We license our technology to brands and manufacturers along the entire textile value chain.
Our synthetic circular textile materials have the potential to be game-changers and to replace conventional materials like polyester or cotton.
Further, our holistic product development concept OceanSafe Certified helps designers and product developers at brands to launch market-ready circular and certified products in record time.
